This is an obvious and ridiculously simple recipe, however, I thought it would be a good one to start off with since it always surprises me how much difference it makes to anything green.
Materials
- 3 Parts Oil.
- Olive oil classically – or any other lightly flavoured oil such as vegetable, sunflower or canola oil. Sesame seed oil is not a great idea despite how delicious that stuff is!
- 1 Part Vinegar.
- Any will do. I normally use apple cider vinegar since that is what I have on hand, but white, rice or balsamic will work as well. Lab grade acetic acid will work if desperate and adds extra zing – but will make it practically inedible.
- Pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
- Other stuff:
- Balsamic Glaze.
- Mustard.
- Chopped parsley or coriander.
- Hot sauce.
- Honey.
- Any combination of the above.
- Something to mix and store this oily goodness in.
Method
- Add all ingredients.
- Mix: By shaking, whisking or blending.
- Initial mixing is important to get everything blended smoothly, especially if adding things like honey or mustard. If stored it will separate, so I keep it in a small jar and give it a shake before use.
- Pour liberally over your salad to disguise the boring lettuce you accidentally grew, is cluttering up your hydroponics and now have to get rid of.
- Enjoy!
